עמדת להם בעת צרתם means that He stood up for Us in our time of need,
Because He reacts to us: when we stand up he stands.
And… we stand when there are צרות.
Standing means מוח שליט על הלב the mind and (what is above the mind) the eyes [that can see G-dliness] are above the heart.
When we fall we must stand back up with the Koach from the נקודת היהדות and in times of צרות the Neshama rises.
This is the story of Chanuka and it is our story: people wishing to steal the Soul and Neshama of Torah and Mitzvos (even while keeping the Torah and Mitzvos intact).
