20. Ze Yitnu 5736 (Another Shkalim Ma’amar)
The Pardes explains that מחצית השקל doesn’t mean a half Shekel, but the halving of a Shekel; which sets up a meaningful exchange: the upper half inspires the lower half Shekel to be given and reunite (on a higher level) with the upper half of the Shekel.
The Pardes uses the Mashal of the Aleph as his tool to explain this. The Rebbe explains that you need to explain the Aleph twice: A. to separate the upper from lower Yuds, B. to draw from the upper to the lower and inspire the lower to give of itself back.
Dividing the upper and lower hales of the Shekel (temporarily makes the lower half even lower, but will) in the end allows for the reunification of the two halves on a much higher level.
He connects this to לכפר על נפשותיכם what (and why) a Nesham descends into this world.
He also connects it to the process of a Korban.
And more.
