Bisha’a Shehikdimu Yisroel 5737, Class Two. We cannot prepare for the infinite gift (and change that will happen in the world) at Mattan Torah, but we prepare as well as we can. This is הקדמת נעשה ונשמע. The Rebbe explores and explains this using the idea of “Will” (above reason) on the general level vs. on the specific level. You want the “general” will first so that even the specific will has the energy from the will that came before it which is (altogether) above reason. This is connected to קבלו מלכותי ואח”כ אגזור עליכם גזירות and קדמה שמע לוהי’ אם שמוע כדי שיקבלו עול מלכות שמים תחילה ואח”כ עול מצוות and (of course) נעשה ונשמע which is explained as ביטול לבעל הרצון וביטול להרצון.
