37. Vayishlach Yehoshua 5736 (Mugga)
This (rather popular) Ma’amar, is very basic and important.
It speaks of the two sets of Miraglim (spies) those of Moshe (the Parsha) and Yehoshua (the Haftorah) and the advantage of the Miraglim of Yehoshua over those of Moshe: A. it was commanded; B. it was only to the city of Yericho ‘the key to Eretz Yisroel’.
Yericho means smell, which is connected to the Livushim of the person.
It is essentially Tanya. There are two points being made here.
1) Yehoshua and his Shlichus is the realistic Avoda for all people (Beinonim) and therefore it is a Divine Command. Moshe and his Shlichus it is an Avoda of Tzadikkim, and is therefore not a command, but a suggestion (שלח לך לדעתך).
2) The end of the Ma’amar actually speaks to the advantage of the lower levels (Livushim), because they raise the Neshama higher than the Neshama would be by itself.
So for both reasons: A. Livushim are a lower level; B. Livushim raise us higher the Shlichus of Yehoshua to Yericho is mandated and advantageous.
