38. Ani Lidodi 5726 (Muga)

This Maamar is Muga.

First Version (one class).

First Version אני לדודי ה’תשכ”ו

Second Version (in Two Classes) 5780/ 2019 Class One: This class has a long introduction about this Ma’amar and the one from 5732. The question is: Is ודודי לי part of the Avoda of Elul or not? Each Ma’amar gives another answer. How is the King in the desert and not in the desert? Two ideas that shift: At first the two ideas were: 1) נתינת כח and 2) התעוררות In the end there are two types of התעוררות: One that awakens you to something outside oכ your essence and another that awakens you to your very essence. The latter idea is not considered a התעוררות.

Second Version Class One אני לדודי ה’תשכ”ו

Class Two: The King receives even very distant people whose only initiative is a desire (that they are afraid to actualize) to see Him, and the King receives them. This is מקבל כולם בסבר פנים יפות Then they approach and He smiles warmly raising them up further to do more Teshuva still, this is the מראה פנים שוחקות לכולם What is novel about this Ma’amar is the following: the King’s smiling at them gets past what they are doing to who they are: the limbs and parts of the “heart”: the King, thus revealing an aspect which completely separate from doing what the King needs for them to do. This is what explains the special idea of מלך בשדה and what it brings out of Yidden. This resolves the question of נתינת כח versus התעררות and explains the order of the Possuk אני לדודי and then ודודי ליץ
