Birchas HaGomel Birchas HaGomel is already found in the Gemara and is rooted in Psalm 107, where he speaks of ‘Hodu LaHashem Chasdo vinifliosav LiVnai adam’ in the four areas the Psalm discusses. the question if it applies to other areas of blessing as well. It is not for a miracle but for taking a risk. Three levels: 1) Gemara (R”I ben Yakar) for using one of one’s merits and praying that if next we lack the zchus the Bracha should be given anyway, 2) the undeserving getting a gift from heaven, 3) Chassidus- the transformation of evil into a good. An explanation of the Bracha.
