Class # 22

Part 4: Torah-Ohr, Mitzva- Nehr. Mitzvos – physical. Text: p.36 U’biur. Ner Mitzva v’Torah Ohr… A ner is anything that conducts light and holds it here (in this world). Fire is goshmius but is used as a moshol to explain ruchnius. Fire wants to go away back to its source. We need to keep it here by providing fuel, i.e. ner, i.e. Mitzvas. We get the Torah Ohr davka through the Ner Mitzva. All mitzvas are done with physical things (with the possible exception of chovos levovos.) The Maamar says two times to Bittul the Yesh to the Ayin, and the yesh should be bittul to the Ayin. One is for the Guf, and one is for the Nefesh Habehamis. The definition of Metzius nimtza is a form that exists in time and space. Hashem is a Metzius bilti Nimtze, i. e. He exists but not in time or space. Yesh (meiAyin) = an independent existence. Through hisbonenus we bittul the metzius of the nefesh Habehamis to Ayin. Through Mitzvas we bittul the yesh of the Guf (but the metzius still remains until l’asid lavo.)
