Being Chosen (152d) – the second day (1) Introduction, each day is something else; Likutei Sichos Vol. 38 page 38 ff. Class Four. Five days, five aspects of preparation five holidays for five different reasons: Day One: He said NOTHING; this got us to “One man with one heart”. Day Two: we were ‘chosen’; He gave Moshe a contract (so to speak that included what He wants (we should be loyal to Him and serve Him) and what He is offering (that we will be His A. Treasure. B. A nation of Priests, C. Holy nation. Day Three: now that we agreed, God gave the rules for ‘the meeting’: Moshe would be inside the fence, and God would talk only to Him, we would hear nothing, but we would witness (and be witnesses to this event). When Moshe gave us these terms we protested (see day Four). Day Four: Moshe (excitedly) returns to God and tells Him that we (the entire nation) wants to meet Him personally, which (really) means to experience Prophecy, which we were poorly prepared for, and God agrees, and tells Moshe to tell us to spend the next 48 hours (2 days) preparing to be Nevi’im through Prishus (acting holy etc.). Day Five: we were collectively converted, which (fully) includes four components: A. Bris Mila (which we’d done before leaving Egypt so we could eat the Korban Pesach); B. Korban (and blood was sprinkled on us all), C. Mikva (before the Korban, because the two -sprinkling of blood and Mikva- go together), D. accepting Mitzvos (saying Na’aseh ViNishma). Day Six: God came onto the mountain, we experienced prophecy and expired repeatedly, and we asked to go back to plan A (day 3) only Moshe would be the Prophet, Moshe was disappointed, but God agreed.
