Review of Chitzonius and Pnimius sytem of hishtalshelus. Chitzonius: Mehus to Mehus. Start and stop. Pnimius: Descent of the Ohr automatically, smoothly. The Alter Rebbe uses Machshava as a moshol for the Ohr system. The problem is that Machshava is Letters , i. e. Kelim, not ohr. So why does He use this moshol? In order to show that also the level of kelim can come from the automatic flow of light. In the machshava moshol there are three possibilities that are presented: 1) Arizal – Machshava is Ohr not Keli. 3) Machshava is keli but is so aidel that its like the ohr 2) Something in between The Rebbe Rashab presents his understanding of the Arizal that Machshava comes from the Etzem of the Nefesh. The Alter Rebbe goes on to say that the nefesh is full of osios. While this usually refers to dibbur, here is refers to the fact that the ohr and the kelim met in the nefesh before Tzimtzum HaRishon.
