Rosh Chodesh Sivan (3) A Trip to a Place called Tired
Likutei Sichos vol. 28 page 07 ff. Class Two.
What happened each day, beginning with Tuesday 2 Sivan, because on Monday (1 Sivan) ‘nothing’ happened.
Tuesday 2 Sivan, יום המיוחס we were given the contract, what He’s offering (kings, priests, holy-ones, his choicest) and what He expects of us (to DO as He says, and we bind ourselves and our offspring until the end of time; and there’s no way out of this covenant).
Wednesday, 3 Sivan, מצות הגבלה after we agree to the terms, He offers us plan A for Mattan Torah Hashem will speak only to Moshe and we will be (only) witnesses.
Thursday, 4 Sivan, מצות פרישה after we reject this suggestion and insist that He speak to us directly, in other words, we should ALL be prophets, He offers us plan B: 48 to be holy enough to ‘meet’ Him, face to face (and we all know what will happen. [Moshe is delighted, but Hashem knows it’s a bad idea].
Friday, 5 Sivan, גירות we are all converted on-mass, the Bris has already been done (to eat the Pesach in Egypt) so we go to Mikva, have a Korban brought and the blood is sprayed on us, and we accept to be Yidden (נעשה ונשמע).
Shabbos, 6 Sivan, מתן תורה the Chosson (Groom) shows up early to the wedding and His bride is still asleep and needs to be roused. We get our face to face meeting (prophecy) and ten times it fails, and we ask Moshe to go back to plan A where Hashem talks only to Him. [This disappoints Moshe greatly, but Hashem says all is as it was meant to be].
