Ki Savo 28-69, Tochacha is called “Bris” (covenant) (5780/ 2020) There are 2 instances of “Tochecha” – rebuke (threats/promise) – in the Chumash. 1. Bechukosai – 49 klalos 2. Ki Savo – 98 klalos The Tochacha, which is a most severe section in the Torah (which could be called “threats” rather than rebuke or correction) is called a Bris (covenant)! Why. If Hashem wants to make a Covenant with us, why are there severe rebukes included? The answer: the idea of a covenant is (by defintion) an eternal bond. Sometimes in order to keep the Jews alive, God has to slap his people in the face. Down to earth class on concepts combined with great stories. Class Length (41:23)
