Gevura is Z”A is cold, matter of fact, exacting, clinical and fair, but can also be cruel. A judgment that separates out good from evil. Gevura of Atik is also Chesed. So when Gevura of Atik is put into Z”A, the din is sweetened and we end up with pure chessed.
If the world was created with ONLY Rachamim: Ahava k’Mayim – Chesed is cold, weak – Be Nice; All is Good; Diluting – not so upset, but also not so inspired. Middos HaRachamim = party time, no boundaries, permissiveness, Sins because of no fear of punishment.
If the World was created ONLY with Midas HaDin, no one would be good enough. It would be a world of Itche the Masmid. Everybody would be functioning on a level of Mesiras Nefesh all the time.
