Tazria words, Class One: Baheres, Se’ais, Sapachas (Yeshiva Achei Temimim 5782/ 2022). In these Parshiyos there are a number of words that one can consider ‘borrowed’. They are (arguably) in their root meant to mean the way the Torah uses them. We are attempting to explore some of them. This class explored three words: בהרת: This word actually means ‘bright’ or ‘brightness’ which is close enough to white. The RaSaG describes it as white against a background of black. שאת: Most Rishonim interpret this word to mean ‘uplifted’ or LESS white (as white appears to be deeper) so it actually doesn’t mean white, but (as white goes) less white. ספחת: This word means to a be assistant (secondary) to. The RaMbaN’s read is most interesting, as he sees it as a bit of each of the other two, which is white from moisture and fire (combined). We explained it in this order, though this is not the order in the Possuk. Only according to Kabbalah (the קהלת יעקב) does the order make sense. שאת- the Klipa of Chochma; ספחת- the Klipa of Bina (lacking Chochma); בהרת- the Klipa of ‘Shamayim’ or Z”A.
