Toldos 26:02 Yitzchak’s piety and removal from the world – Yeshiva (5781/ 2020). Yitzchak’s story is squeezed into Parshas Toldos between the stories of Avraham and Yaakov. Yitzchak’s role was different than his father’s or his son’s – Firstly he had the most difficult of tasks, to secure the teachings of Avrohom Avinu beyond his personality. Secondly, he was a porush, a person minimizing his contact with the world and living a life of Holiness. Yitzchak considers going out of Israel and into the world when he sees an impending hunger/drought as a siman (a sign) that he should leave Eretz Yisrael. Hashem tells him – “No, your role is to stay here living a life of sacredness and a holiness and that requires you to be removed from this world.” This class addresses the role of Yitzchak and his perishush (a pure life removed from the world) in establishing Yiddishkeit in between the lives of Avraham and Yaakov who were both required by their roles to be deeply engaged in the physical world. Great story 28:23 Reb Meir Premishlaner’s father says he will not go into the sukkah without a guest and the young 7 year old Reb Meir goes to find a guest. No spoilers check out what happens… Class Length (34:49)
